Abstract: AI is no doubt rising, and rising at an unprecedented speed. It has risen to the national strategy level in many countries. It is on the lips of politicians, business tycoons and of course media celebrities.  For scientists, we need stand firm with an objective view and ride gracefully on this tide. In this talk, I will give a quick overview of AI including a brief history and discussions on questions like: what AI is on earth? what AI can do? what AI cannot do, yet?  what the major AI approaches are?  In addition, I will introduce the current landscape of AI development around the globe. Clearly, AI will bring us a new phase of civilization.  AI is the power source of the so-called fourth revolution, which is not really driven by egos of new technologies but the hope of working less and living more.

Bio: Dr. Andy Song received his Ph.D. degree in AI from RMIT University, Australia, and became a faculty member with the School of Science of RMIT since. His research interests include evolutionary learning, especially for complex real-world problems, such as industry optimization. He also works on machine vision.  Dr. Song is the secretary of Australia National AI Committee, and was the local co-chair of IJCAI, the world top AI conference, in 2017.  He is an OECD forum partner and a B20 Taskforce member providing policy recommendations to the annual G20 summit.  He is also the AI director of several companies.
